Natalia Ballón, MPH, MSW
Community Clinical Navigator
Natalia has extensive experience working on programs that impact community health equity and social determinants of health. Her professional experience includes various roles focused on developing and implementing programs to build capacity for chronic conditions, support communities through disaster recovery, and evidence-based psychosocial programs for underserved communities.
Prior to joining Inside Edge, Natalia was the Participant Engagement Manager for ShareForCures®, Susan G. Komen’s breast cancer research registry connecting researchers with information from current or previous patients. She led the development and implementation of retention strategies and tactics that facilitated the ongoing, long-term participation of individuals from diverse populations of breast cancer survivors.
During her role as the Associate Director at Cancer Support Community Arizona, Natalia and her team led the post pandemic recovering efforts to reestablish the Latino Program, providing psychosocial support services to Latino survivors and their families through the Latinx initiative. Also, she managed the Hospital Navigation program, developing direct financial assistance (DAF) initiatives to promote health equity among marginalized and underserved families impacted by cancer.
Natalia serves at the Mayo Clinic (Phoenix) Center for Health Equity and Community Engagement Research (CHECER) Community Advisory Board as a Community Advocate, focusing on innovative solutions to health equity, implementation of evidence-based health initiatives and programs that impact underserved communities, and health disparities specific among Hispanic/Latino communities in the Phoenix area.
Natalia earned a dual Masters in Public Health from University of Texas and Social Work from the University of Houston; she holds a BA in Political Science with a minor in Latin American Studies from the University of Houston.
What does “Make well known” mean to me?
It means to honor the intrinsic duty of serving others through empowerment, meeting each community’s needs in a respectful and culturally sensible manner; this is key to elevating communities to health equity.
